Life gets a little out of control at times and it is so easy to lose track of where we should be. Such has been the case for me the last month. Our schedule has been in a tail spin - hard to know which way is up! But here we are resetting for the month of June and getting back in the swing of our scripture memorization.
We strive for balance. We want our kids to be well rounded as they grow up. And in our own lives, we strive to walk the line between life by the Spirit and living in the world. We have a desire to be relevant to the culture in which we live with all of the customs and practices that go with it. However, those customs often lead us very close to behavior that is inconsistent with God’s will. Jesus is not calling us to literal self-mutilation, but he is calling us to radical purity.
If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to go into hell!
Grace to you and peace from God, our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
